Auctions ‘swift’ to sell
While Taylor Swift fever hit Australia this weekend, auction fever may have been even stronger, with Ray White scheduling 380 properties to go under the hammer today.
Sold under the hammer for $1.22 million
Lead agent: Adam Keane - 0421 225 630
Ray White Glenelg | Brighton
25 registered bidders, 11 active
Auctioneer: Rod Smitheram, Ray White
“We had a proxy bidder who had his friends on the phone in Canada who were jumping out of helicopters and skiing while their friend was bidding for them at the auction,” Mr Keane said.
“The bidder was trying to call his friends to get approval for the final $2000 bid, and said he would throw in the extra $2000 if they didn’t answer! But they ended up giving him approval and that extra $2000 won the auction.
“The vendors (pictured above) had bought the property from my father, who also worked for Ray White, more than 20 years ago.
“They had renovated and had two kids and outgrown the property. So they were upsizing in a neighbouring suburb.
“We kept in touch with them over years and I ended up listing it for them 20 years later, so both my dad and I have sold this property now.”
Sold under the hammer for $1.6 million, $170,000 over reserve
Lead agent: Brandon Pilgrim - 0438 807 061
Ray White Norwood
17 registered bidders, five active
Auctioneer: George Kargiotis, Ray White
Mr Pilgrim said the sellers were a young couple who had owned the property for five years and completed a renovation,
“The winning bid went to a downsizer who was moving for the lifestyle but also a nice new modern property. All our bidders were a mix of downsizers and young professionals,” he said.
“The market has been really busy with plenty of buyers out there.
“We’ve had plenty of people through the open homes and, as you can see with the number of bidders here today, there is plenty of interest.”
Sold under the hammer for $765,000 - $115,000 over reserve
Lead agent: Vanessa Bianco - 0426 031 255
Ray White Norwood
27 registered bidders, six active
“The winning bid went to a young family (pictured above) who had been coming to a few of my open homes and had even bid at a number of my auctions but had previously missed out,” Ms Bianco said.
‘It was great to see them finally secure this property.
“The majority of our bidders were first home buyers and young families, with a few investors as well.
“It was very well presented, and it had a really nice backyard with a good entertaining area.
“The sellers were a couple who had purchased another home and were relocating to another area.”
